About this project

GT4Recomp translates EE game code and VU0/VU1 microprograms ahead of time, replacing IOP services. The author calls this hybrid recompilation because PS2 hardware is still modelled in software; GSdx runs in a separate process, so zero emulation or full PS2 fidelity is not claimed.

The 1.2.3 path documents higher resolutions, ultrawide with centred HUD, render scale, custom textures, controller remapping and a save-aware launcher. Reported 60 FPS samples use a specific Ryzen/Radeon test PC and are not a general performance guarantee.

Compatibility

Version 1.2.3 requires Windows 10/11 x64, SSE4.1, Vulkan 1.2, the player’s own Gran Turismo 4 USA v2.00 SCUS-97328 ISO and about 6 GB free for its local copy. Setup downloads the required separate GSdx renderer; WebView2 may also be installed if absent.

A newer 1.3.0-rc3 pre-release exists for testing and is explicitly not offered as an automatic launcher update. It introduces a portable package, separate Spec II support and additional graphics-API options. Those RC features are not presented as already part of public 1.2.3.

Known limitations

Some licence demos/menu backgrounds do not play, racing wheels are unsupported, long sessions are not fully qualified and ultrawide split-screen/photo mode have limited testing. CoreGS 2.0, native Linux and Android are future work. RC3 additionally skips some Spec II licence demos.
