PlayStation 3 / Recompilation

inFAMOUS — Reborn

PS3 inFAMOUS rebuilt locally for Windows using statically recompiled PPU/SPU code and Direct3D 12. The installer targets European BCES00220 discs, can resume setup and provides in-place updates without bundling the game.

About this project

The project uses ps3recomp to translate the PS3 PPU and SPU code into x86-64 C/C++, backed by native system services, RSX rendering through Direct3D 12, audio and input. This profile refers to the first inFAMOUS, not Second Son.

Compatibility

Use your own European BCES00220 dump as an ISO or a folder containing PS3_GAME. An encrypted disc image requires its matching local .dkey; if only EBOOT.BIN exists, the documented setup uses RPCS3 to decrypt the executable.

The documented requirements are Windows 10/11 x64, Direct3D 12, SSE4.1, Python 3.10+, Visual Studio 2022 C++/Clang tools, about 10 GB free and 16 GB RAM. Setup offers a compatibility build on processors lacking AVX2.

Documented support and independently tested compatibility are different. AllRecomps has not run these games.

Development progress

Official release 1.0 includes inFamous.Setup.exe. The README describes controls, F10 settings and an updater; it does not provide a complete campaign-validation matrix. Release numbering alone is not treated as a stability or completion guarantee.

Known limitations

Only the European disc and Windows path are documented here. Other editions and operating systems are not presumed compatible. The setup still needs local code generation and compilation, so the installer is not a ready-made copy of the game.

Getting started

Run the official Setup, select your ISO or PS3_GAME folder, choose an installation directory and press Install. It checks dependencies, imports your data and builds locally; an interrupted run can resume completed steps.

Use the generated Play inFamous shortcut. F10 opens resolution, frame cap and VSync options saved to settings.ini. Back up saves before updating; Update now or Update inFamous.cmd updates the existing installation and rebuilds changed components.
