About this project
Open Annihilation reimplements the Total Annihilation engine in C++20/SDL3, preserving the need for original game data while adding modern desktop and selected mobile targets. Total Annihilation: Kingdoms is a future goal, not included support.

Compatibility
Use data from your own Total Annihilation 3.1 installation, such as GOG, or the documented free demo. The guides cover Windows, Linux and macOS 11+, iOS/iPadOS 15+ builds made on your own Mac, and an experimental Steam Deck package.

Documented support and independently tested compatibility are different. AllRecomps has not run these games.
Development progress
Desktop and selected mobile installation guides are published. Single-player work continues and the Steam Deck package is explicitly experimental.

The latest non-prerelease GitHub release observed is v0.8.4. A release does not establish stability, complete gameplay or tested platform support.

Known limitations
Single-player coverage is still being completed. A long platform list does not mean every architecture, campaign and mod has the same validation. The experimental Deck and self-built Apple mobile routes should be evaluated separately from desktop packages.

Getting started
Follow the installation guide for the target OS to install the engine and select or copy your game data. Mobile builds require the Apple toolchain and signing; Steam Deck has its own Game Mode package and instructions. Keep mods and map packs separate as directed.

Some projects require files from your own copy of the original game. Follow the official instructions.
